Greetings,
I don't have any workshops or lessons planned for the near future, but I may be available for private lessons in painting either botanical subjects or animals. Please contact me for availablility.

If you are a student of watercolor, you may wish to purchase an original dog or cat watercolor painting and study it first hand. I have made many of my sample originals available for sale at greatly reduced prices to students of painting.

Also, for painters: Watercolor Papers for Sale
Watercolor Paper - Fabriano Uno - 10 sheets $35.
140 lb., cold press, 22x30-inch sheets
four deckle edges
acid free 100% cotton rag

Fabriano Uno has a bright white hue and a surface that is less textured than the commonly-used Arches watercolor paper. This is an excellent paper.

Watercolor Paper - Bockingford - 10 sheets $30.
140 lb., cold press
22x30-inch sheets
acid free, buffered

Bockingford is a great student-grade paper with a pleasing, warmer white hue and a nicely-textured surface--I highly recommend it.

These are the two papers I have used for nearly all my watercolor paintings.
To purchase watercolor paper, please email or phone Janet L. Wissmann, 608-624-5511 [Central Time Zone 9am-9pm]. Paper will be shipped flat, usually via UPS. Shipping cost to continental U.S. will be about $20 to $25.

Botanical Illustration in Transparent Watercolor
(one-day or two-day painting workshops)

Date:

First, you'll watch Janet paint a watercolor botanical illustration. Then, in hands-on sessions, you'll learn the basics of transparent watercolor, including materials, paper preparation, and painting technique. Next, you'll paint pre-drawn wildflower illustrations with watercolor to help learn how to show depth and control color. On the second day of the two-day workshop, you will watch Janet perform another botanical illustration demonstration, and you'll draw and paint at least one original botanical illustration of your own. All materials will be supplied. To view Janet's hand-colored botanical illustrations, go here.

Animal Portraits in Transparent Watercolor

Watch a demonstration of Janet's watercolor pet portrait painting. Learn the basics of transparent watercolor painting. Then, under Janet's instruction, you will paint your own favorite pet or another animal, from photographs. (Be sure to bring along plenty of photographs. It's particularly important to bring as many photos of your pet as you can; see HERE for pet photograph information). All materials will be supplied. ABOUT THE LOCATION
The Inn at Lonesome Hollow is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast situated on 160 rural acres just outside of Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin, a sleepy village located in the heart of the picturesque Kickapoo Valley in the southwestern corner of the state. The Inn is about a one hour south of LaCrosse, Wisconsin and 35 minutes northeast of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. The Mississippi, the Wisconsin, and the Kickapoo Rivers all converge here in Crawford County, and help form the character of the land in our beautiful, secluded valley.
